CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN Fitchburg Dog Festival 2023 - Celebrating 5 years!

Dear Vendors and Supporters of the Fitchburg Dog Festival,

Thank you for your commitment and consideration to support our Fitchburg Dog Festival this year. Our volunteer team wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support of our community dog park and pet parent community.

After careful consideration and monitoring of the weather forecast this weekend, our planning team has regrettably decided to cancel the Fitchburg Dog Festival scheduled for Saturday August 26, 2023. The forecast predicts heavy rain and thunderstorms that could compromise the safety and enjoyment of both attendees and our vendor participants.

We understand the dedication and effort you have put into preparing for the event, and we share your disappointment in not being able to bring the festival to fruition this year. The Fitchburg Dog Festival is built on the collective efforts of volunteers, our pet community friends and our supporting businesses, who have consistently demonstrated a passion for our community and our favorite dogs. We are incredibly grateful and look forward to the possibility of collaborating again in the future.

As we continue to prioritize the well-being of our community, we hope for your understanding and support in this difficult decision. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us by email at fitchburgdogpark@gmail.com

We remain committed to fostering a vibrant and united dog park and festival that celebrates our furry friends and pet parent community.

Please contact us by replying to this email if you wish us to refund any vendor donations made for dog festival attendance.

Warm regards,

Fitchburg Dog Festival Planning Team

“Luna is the first ever comfort dog to serve with the Massachusetts State Police and she is a welcome addition to our fundamental mission — to help people in need,” said Colonel Kerry Gilpin. “We know all too well the devastating effects of traumatic stress, and we are fortunate to have Luna available to first responders, their family members, and other victims in need of support.”

Celebrating National Dog Day 2023 August 26th!

National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, pure and mixed and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues. National Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.

Celebrating National Dog Day 2022!

Second Chance Receives Two Tractor-Trailer Loads of Donated Beds to Aid Local Dogs in Need

Pet Beds Will Be Distributed to Pet Owners at the April 9th Fitchburg Vaccine Clinic

Second Chance Animal Services was selected by Greater Good Charities, in partnership with BARK, Inc, to receive a donation of dog beds to help enhance adoption efforts and temporary experiences for local pups. The beds will be offered to new adopters and approximately 200 beds will be distributed at the April 9th community vaccine clinic in Fitchburg, MA to help local pet owners care for their pets.

Chief Development Officer Lindsay Doray says Second Chance is grateful for the donation that will provide a comfy bed for those welcoming new pets from the nonprofit’s adoption center in East Brookfield. According to Doray, the beds won’t just help shelter pets but will help pets in the community. “Second Chance is committed to preventing pet homelessness. Our hospitals and many of our programs aim to keep pets in their homes and out of shelters by helping pet owners care for their pets. Distributing these beds at our low-cost community vaccine clinic will provide comfort to pets and educate pet owners about the resources available to them.” The beds will be distributed free of charge to pet owners who have registered their pet for the April 9thvaccine clinic which will be held at the Fitchburg Fire Department. Online registration is available at www.secondchanceanimals.org/fitchburg/.

This local donation is part of BARK’S initial $10 million commitment in BARK products to enhance and expand initiatives by Greater Good Charities’ partner shelters and rescues to drive adoptions. Greater Good Charities is working with partner shelters nationwide to utilize thousands of BARK’s memory foam dog beds to help shelters enhance adoption drives and create dog adoption starter kits when individuals and families adopt new dogs. In addition, the nonprofit organization is offering BARK dog beds to pet-friendly domestic violence and homeless shelters to help families in crisis create a safe haven for their pup.

BARK’s partnership with Greater Good Charities is an expansion of the company’s ongoing work in giving back to dogs and their people. Since 2017, working with an internal network of over 1,000 partners in dogs and animal welfare across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, BARK has donated around $1 million annually in goods, services, and direct funding in order to help dogs stay in homes. Greater Good Charities, works to amplify the good in the world, and has provided more than $400 million in impact, including cash grants, in-kind supplies, and programmatic support, to over 5,000 charitable partners in 121 countries since 2007.

The April 9th vaccine clinic will take place at Fitchburg Fire Department, 33 North Street from 9am to noon and is organized in conjunction with Be PAWsitive Therapy Pets and Friends of Fitchburg DOGS, Inc. It is open to all pet owners in the region.
